Uhde engineers, designers and project management and services personnel are experienced and expert in all aspects of delivering refinery and petrochemicals projects.  Our expertise ranges from the design standards of our major international client base, through the detailed implementation requirements of the particular refining process technologies, to the stringent construction practices required to deliver revamp projects within operating refineries.

As a multi-discipline engineering contractor, our refining expertise necessarily extends across all relevant engineering disciplines:

• Process engineering achieving ever more stringent product and environmental specifications in feasible, efficient, robust designs, capable of flawless start-up, high availability, and safe, stable operation.

• Mechanical engineering specifying and assuring the installed quality and reliable operation of complex major compression trains, materials selection and design specification of complex equipment for operation in high temperature and pressure, and corrosive environments.
• Piping design and engineering providing efficient, constructible, operable and maintainable layout while incorporating requirements for slugging flows, vibration from equipment and high pressure drop valves, and stresses in high temperature thick wall piping.

• Instrumentation and control providing for sophisticated process control such as for advanced process control, real-time optimisation, or on-line blending, while also delivering process safety via SIL-rated shutdown systems.

Our delivery of projects is not limited to the main refining process units.  We are keen to deliver all components of a fully functional refining system, including:

• Auxiliary process units (amine regeneration, sour water, sulphur recovery, hydrogen, etc).
• Utilities generation and distribution.
• Feed, intermediate and final product storage.

• Blending systems.
• Terminals, jetties, import and export facilities.
• Environmental control facilities (waste water treatment, pressure relief systems).

We are especially keen to be involved from early in project development in the assessment of available capacity and distribution in existing systems that will be required for proposed refinery revamping.
